Interview Assessment Notes 1.    Could you introduce yourself and tell us about you? Your current / recent jobs and employers? Previous companies and jobs?

He is currently working in XXX as a Network Engineer and recently transferred there last month. For the past 5-6 years, he is working as a DWDM Engineer and work also in the SDH/PDH technologies. In the past few years, he involves in the on-site commissioning and installation of the equipment on the client’s demands and provisioning to help customers solve network issues and do configurations and help maintain the network as well. Have an experience with NOC to improve the network and expand the network of the customers. In XXX, he helps in maintaining the network, sometimes their network faces a lot of different problems and vulnerability and always remind them to be cautious and understand the facts and the default for the customer networks. Currently supporting project for 2 customers and helping them explain the network by forwarding OSN 9800 U16, and OSN 9800 U32 and helping them to run it on-site and to establish the network. Became an intern for XXX in 2 months, this became his stepping stone for him learning about networks then he got an offer from Huawei.

2.    What skill(s) / experience would you self-describe as strongest and specialist in?

Rate himself 5 out of 5 because he is exploring DWDM for a long time and has strong skills about it but is still open to new technologies, especially in DWDM. Since he faces different situations and issues, he always got a solution during the time which is his strongest skill. He rates himself his communication skills 4 out of 5 because he is also good at communicating with different customers at the same time, he needs to report these kinds of issues to his colleagues in China. He also needs to think about and solve the issue immediately so that can also explain the issues to his customers. So, he has good communications skill a strong point. When it comes to his projects, he encountered a high power in the network that affects the customers and decide on how they can stabilize the network. In the process, they coordinate with the on-site engineer to check if the fiber is functioning well, they also check the system and monitor the network, and measure if the power is maintained and in good condition. They also check the power input and output. They also need to make sure that there is no error pitch when transferring the data that will cause other issues in the network. In that case, they need to turn off the power and measure its performance.

3. Do you have the lists of key criteria according to the client’s requirements?

He does have enough background facing the customers in the field and currently, he is the vendor in their company so he faced a lot of people daily. He also has experience in supporting NOC because they use it to maintain the network to check and monitor so that they can see issues and prevent those upcoming issues in the network. He rates his knowledge in NOC 3 out of 5 because he needs to coordinate first with the other Engineers for them to solve if they encounter a problem. Perform on-site installations because being in a project role, he needs to go on-site to do some checking or site visits to measure and know how they can connect the network and ensure all the labels, locations, and information are correct. With level 2 knowledge in troubleshooting because for the DWDM, the level 3 troubleshooting is more on the routing and IP side. He also took training for Huawei and planning to get certifications as soon as possible.
